It was a typical Sunday afternoon. We were sitting in Sunday School enjoying yet another Brother Brown lesson, when Kimbie felt a slight pain in her tummy tum tum. She thought nothing of it at first. Later in the afternoon as we were out obtaining the necessary items for a delicious lasagna dinner she had a sudden urge to purchase a pregnancy test. Apparently my cousin and Grandma had mentioned something to her about thinking she was pregnant. She supposed that the strange feeling in her stomach was related to a potential 3rd pregnancy. I was not too keen on the idea of having a 3rd child this quickly. I refused to let her purchase a test, as the dollar stores were not open and I don't agree with paying anything more for a pregnancy test. Plus, I was not sure I was ready to admit that we could have potentially started the creation of another child. Moving on...I slaved for several hours in the kitchen creating the first hand-made lasagna of my life. It was a great success...however, I made enough to feed about 30 people (I haven't figured out how to proportion for just 2 people yet, 20 is much easier.) Anyhow, Kimbie didn't feel well all evening and didn't really have much of an appetite for dinner, but muscled some down. Shortly thereafter she went to bed and I fell asleep watching the closing ceremonies for the Olympics down stairs. At about 2:30 AM I woke to Keydran screaming from his room. I went into the kitchen to prepare him a bottle. As I was walking up the stairs he was still screaming, which was unusual, as Kimbie normally responds much quicker than I to the kids' screams. When I picked him up and took him into our room, Kimbie was curled up in the fetal position moaning in agony. She couldn't describe what the pain was, but there was something seriously wrong. We called the on-call doctor and were told that if she can't adequately describe the pain then it would be in our best interest to go directly to the E.R. We packed the kids up and headed out. We arrived around 3:00 AM and were briskly admitted to a room. The doctors immediately began running every test in the book, including a pregnancy test. We called Cassi and had her man-slave Eric come and get the kids to take them back home to bed, as the doctor informed us that our stay would be rather lengthy. All of the blood tests came back negative, including the pregnancy tests. That was a slight relief. We were then informed that she would be taken in for a CT Scan. When the results came back, it was news that neither of us wanted to hear. Kimbie was to be taken into surgery at 1:30 PM to remove an infected appendix.
They found a use for her belly button. They made three incisions in her stomach, one for the camera, one for the instruments used to remove the infected organ and a third for good measure (I can't remember what the third one was for). Prior to her surgery my Dad came out to the hospital and gave Kimbie a blessing. She was insured a quick recovery and that the removal of the infection would ultimately be a great benefit to her physically and mentally. It was comforting to hear that Heavenly Father new of the situation and was watching over us. All that said, I was still a nervous wreck while she was in surgery. I kept imagining what would happen if something went wrong. Fortunately my sister Cassi was there with me to help keep my mind on other things. I don't know what I would do if my Kimbie-love was taken from me. I don't know that my sanity (or what's left of it) would remain intact. The surgeon came out about 40 minutes after they had taken her in and informed me that the operation was a success. Everything had gone smoothly without a hitch. We would just need to wait for her to regain consciousness from the anesthetics. When she finally came to we were returned to her recovery room where we spent the next several hours sleeping. Kimbie was frustrated because she wanted to wake up, but the anesthetics wouldn't allow her to open her eyes. It's the classic, mind is awake but the body is sleeping story. She was released to go home at 9:30 PM that evening. The doctor informed me that she was to do no lifting, no housework and was to do as much walking as she could handle. Fortunately my boss was very understanding and very supportive and has allowed me to take some time to care for my beloved. It's a miracle that the doctors were able to locate the infection before the appendix ruptured. I've now heard many horror stories about appendices that have burst and the extended length of time one has to be hospitalized for such a case. We were truly blessed to have been able to get it taken care of so quickly. Although this will be an expensive event, it's nice to know that Heavenly Father helped Kimbie recognize the pain and the doctors to locate the problem as soon as they did. It may have potentially saved us a ton of money.

Poor Guy
Today Keydran got his first FAT lip. He was trying to stand up to Kaiyenna's bed, and his hand slipped and he fell and hit his lip in the edge of her bed, not only that, but he hit his lip so hard he actually bounced back and hit the back of his head on the floor. At first I didn't even know he was bleeding, and then he kept rubbing his lower lip on his upper lip and blood started gushing out and I thought we were gonna have to take him to get stitches. But right before I called the Doctor, he had already clotted. I ended up calling my sister instead, just in case. She has 3 boys, and it saved time on the whole doctor phone call, leave a message, call you back an hours later process. He also got a bruise that goes across his cheek too, it just a thin line from the very corner of Kaiyenna's bed. He was actually pretty tough. He didn't cry for too long and he's been eating normal. He's such a trooper. I love my little guy so much! Then later tonight, I was trying to find a good recipe online for dinner, well in the mean time, Kaiyenna decided to move Keydran's high chair to the counter and climb up it to get to the Banana's. She LOVES bananas, she would eat an entire bunch if I let her. You'd think she was a monkey with the way she climbs on things to get to banana's!! Joey's in eye view of her, why he chose to tell me after she had climbed on the counter ate the banana. And, why he didn't just get up and get her himself. You ask.... He's been hypnotized by the olympics. So after Joey tells me she's on the counter eating a banana, I hurry down stairs to put her in "time out"...doesn't work very well for that one. I start talking to her, telling her that she's not allowed on the counter and that she can't get into whatever she wants when ever she wants and if she needs or wants something, to ask first. blah blah blah. Well, She started to argue with me in her jibberish talk. I was trying SO hard not to laugh. But what do you do? She was up in my face and everything....you jinxed me dad. I did end up putting her in "time out" just so I could get her mess cleaned up so I could start dinner. Which took a lot longer than I had planned on. So after I got dinner done. Oven fried chicken with mashed potatoes. We finally got to sit down and eat. Kaiyenna only liked the mashed potatoes, and she's a really messy eater, she refuses to use a spoon or fork, so she uses her hands, sometimes she'll ask for help, but that doesn't last very long. After getting it all over her hands, she tried to "shake it off" and some got in her hair and Joey says, "Oh no don't do that, you're making a mess...ah, now it's in your hair." As soon as Kaiyenna heard the word hair, her hands went immediately into her hair and she started rubbing the potatoes into her hair like shampoo. It was really funny, but gross. She is so crazy. But I love her to death.

American Idol
Okay, so some of you know that Joey and I auditioned for American Idol on Tuesday the 29th of July! Well we didn't make it through the 1st round of Judges...our voices weren't strong enough and our performance lacked something they were looking for. I couldn't hear what they said. Oh Well. At least we can say we tried out. It was the longest most boring process I've ever experienced. Plus, I was going on 20 minutes of sleep. And I've been trying to catch up on all that missed sleep this week and thats why this post is kind of late. Ryan Seacrest ended up showing up about an hour and a half after we got inside the Arena. Which no one expected because of the shark bite he got no too long ago! So it was quite a surprise! I didn't get a very good picture because we were far a way. We asked the website photographer to take a picture of us specifically for Nigel Lithgow...we did the "So you Think you can Dance" hand thing they always do! We'll see if it ends up on the "American Idol" website. Probably not :(
While we were waiting to go inside the Arena Joey got to sing on the Radio! Pretty cool!!!! If at all possible, depending on money and location, I'll be auditioning next year. I'm sad to say that Joey will not be. He would have to make it into the Top 10 to get paid and if not he would have to go all those weeks with out pay from work, and would probably get fired anyways, and it's not something he's willing to risk. So Wish me luck and feel free to help me with my performance so it's judge worthy. I might refuse at first, but just give me a little nudge! and anyone with voice coaching tips feel free to leave a comment! Thanks!
