A fright of a night! WARNING! The following contains graphic images that may not be suitable for younger readers.

It was a typical Sunday afternoon. We were sitting in Sunday School enjoying yet another Brother Brown lesson, when Kimbie felt a slight pain in her tummy tum tum. She thought nothing of it at first. Later in the afternoon as we were out obtaining the necessary items for a delicious lasagna dinner she had a sudden urge to purchase a pregnancy test. Apparently my cousin and Grandma had mentioned something to her about thinking she was pregnant. She supposed that the strange feeling in her stomach was related to a potential 3rd pregnancy. I was not too keen on the idea of having a 3rd child this quickly. I refused to let her purchase a test, as the dollar stores were not open and I don't agree with paying anything more for a pregnancy test. Plus, I was not sure I was ready to admit that we could have potentially started the creation of another child. Moving on...I slaved for several hours in the kitchen creating the first hand-made lasagna of my life. It was a great success...however, I made enough to feed about 30 people (I haven't figured out how to proportion for just 2 people yet, 20 is much easier.) Anyhow, Kimbie didn't feel well all evening and didn't really have much of an appetite for dinner, but muscled some down. Shortly thereafter she went to bed and I fell asleep watching the closing ceremonies for the Olympics down stairs. At about 2:30 AM I woke to Keydran screaming from his room. I went into the kitchen to prepare him a bottle. As I was walking up the stairs he was still screaming, which was unusual, as Kimbie normally responds much quicker than I to the kids' screams. When I picked him up and took him into our room, Kimbie was curled up in the fetal position moaning in agony. She couldn't describe what the pain was, but there was something seriously wrong. We called the on-call doctor and were told that if she can't adequately describe the pain then it would be in our best interest to go directly to the E.R. We packed the kids up and headed out. We arrived around 3:00 AM and were briskly admitted to a room. The doctors immediately began running every test in the book, including a pregnancy test. We called Cassi and had her man-slave Eric come and get the kids to take them back home to bed, as the doctor informed us that our stay would be rather lengthy. All of the blood tests came back negative, including the pregnancy tests. That was a slight relief. We were then informed that she would be taken in for a CT Scan. When the results came back, it was news that neither of us wanted to hear. Kimbie was to be taken into surgery at 1:30 PM to remove an infected appendix.
They found a use for her belly button. They made three incisions in her stomach, one for the camera, one for the instruments used to remove the infected organ and a third for good measure (I can't remember what the third one was for). Prior to her surgery my Dad came out to the hospital and gave Kimbie a blessing. She was insured a quick recovery and that the removal of the infection would ultimately be a great benefit to her physically and mentally. It was comforting to hear that Heavenly Father new of the situation and was watching over us. All that said, I was still a nervous wreck while she was in surgery. I kept imagining what would happen if something went wrong. Fortunately my sister Cassi was there with me to help keep my mind on other things. I don't know what I would do if my Kimbie-love was taken from me. I don't know that my sanity (or what's left of it) would remain intact. The surgeon came out about 40 minutes after they had taken her in and informed me that the operation was a success. Everything had gone smoothly without a hitch. We would just need to wait for her to regain consciousness from the anesthetics. When she finally came to we were returned to her recovery room where we spent the next several hours sleeping. Kimbie was frustrated because she wanted to wake up, but the anesthetics wouldn't allow her to open her eyes. It's the classic, mind is awake but the body is sleeping story. She was released to go home at 9:30 PM that evening. The doctor informed me that she was to do no lifting, no housework and was to do as much walking as she could handle. Fortunately my boss was very understanding and very supportive and has allowed me to take some time to care for my beloved. It's a miracle that the doctors were able to locate the infection before the appendix ruptured. I've now heard many horror stories about appendices that have burst and the extended length of time one has to be hospitalized for such a case. We were truly blessed to have been able to get it taken care of so quickly. Although this will be an expensive event, it's nice to know that Heavenly Father helped Kimbie recognize the pain and the doctors to locate the problem as soon as they did. It may have potentially saved us a ton of money.

Kimbie asked me to mention something about her having Kaiyenna and then a week later Kelly Neff having Kembry, and then Kelly having her gall bladder removed a week prior to Kimbie having her appendix removed. All I can say is that you two must spend too much time together. I've heard of women spending so much time together that they end up on the same cycle, but major medical issues within a week of each other...that's a little strange.
Anyways...I'm glad everything went well and that my lady-love is doing well. My work sent her a beautiful plant that helped cheer all of us up. I work with the greatest people on the planet! THE END.

Wow what an ordeal. My husband had his appendix out before we knew each other and I'm so grateful, hearing stories like this, that I didn't have to go through it with him. Is that selfish? I would just feel too bad.

Good luck in the recovery process Kimbie! Think happy, healthy thoughts.

Wow that is crazy! I am glad that the doctors were able to locate the problem and correct it. And I hope that the recovery is quick! And what a brave wife you have for going through the surgery!

KIMBIE!! I am so sorry. You were supposed to have your gallbladder taken out, not your appendix. Now they're going to have to do the surgery all over...or...do I have to have my appendix taken out now?
