Hangover anyone?
Now knowing she can open doors, putting her to bed became another issue. So we switched our bedroom door knob that has a lock and put it on hers with the lock out, so we could lock her in at night... a trick learned from a friend! Our door knobs are oval shaped, so the door knob covers won't work, in case you are wondering. Anyways... Last night I was cleaning up the Kitchen while Joey cooked dinner. The kids were in the front room playing with toys, when all of a sudden it got quiet. I then realized that I forgot to put the gate up. Keydran can go up the stairs fine, but going down... he tries to go down head first. So I was panicking, totally oblivious to the fact that our bedroom door no longer locks. So I race up stairs and as I reach the top of the stairs I could smell a familiar but strong oder. I immediately knew what it was, Johnson & Johnson's clean & clear facial astringent. Which has salicylic acid and alcohol and some other stuff in it. So I rushed to Kaiyenna and I could smell it on her breath. She said it was a "yummy drink". Keydran was just crawling around, no sign of drinkage for him. phew. After putting him in a safe place... away from the stairs. I immediately grabbed Kaiyenna and Joey called poison control. We told poison control that we had no idea how much she consumed. The bottle was a little more than half full, but It had been used so I know she didn't drink that much. Well the poison control told us that even 1 oz. could be very toxic and the alcohol that's in it could make her a little drunk. It was very possible that Kaiyenna could have consumed that much. Because we were 40 minutes away from the hospital, poison control advised us to head out and get Kaiyenna to the ER, So Kaiyenna and I headed out. After waiting 30 minutes in the waiting room, we were finally taken back. Dr. came in and said that she looks fine, there's been no vomiting. He called the poison control to confirm the call and to see if he could take her blood levels to see how much she actually consumed. But the poison control told him that it wasn't necessary. Dr. also said that salicylic acid is the same ingredient that's in aspirin but that it's very diluted and that she would have had to consumed a lot for it to be toxic. But that they can monitor her for 30 minutes just in case. Or... we can go home, and if she throws up to come back... well, I decided to stay to avoid having to pay 2 $100.00 co-pays. While waiting I could clearly see that Kaiyenna was a little drunk. 10:00 at night, she's usually ornery, but last night she was bouncing off the walls, and hitting me.... not normal. Not even during the day is she that wild, especially the hitting part. They gave her some crackers, pudding, and apple juice while we were waiting. That helped her calm down, and then she became ornery. But soon after the orneriness kicked in they came to tell us we could go home. $100.00 later we find out that Kaiyenna in fine, poison control didn't do the research very well, Kaiyenna got some crackers, juice and pudding, and now me and Kaiyenna have matching bracelets.posted by Kimbie @ 3:14 PM 7 people said...

Happy Birthday Kaiyenna

Our families are so big, that we had to celebrate her birthday 2 different days. Grandparents one day and the rest of the family the next. And some of both of our families didnt't even make it. Well, I guess we celebrated her b-day 3 different days. Her Aunt Cas and Eric went to Oregon on her b-day and wanted to celebrate a couple of days before. It was quite hectic considering I had just had surgery. I did have Joey...for a couple of days, then he had to go back to work. :( My mom came up from St. George for the week to help me out too. Thanks for everything mom, I love you so much. We all miss you and can't wait for you to be up north again. I love you again. I also want to thank all you guys for your concerns and comments. And thanks to everyone that helped out while I was recovering. Also, Joey mentioned in the previous post about them finding a second use for my belly button. The incision was actually made right above my belly button, but close enough. I think there is too much scar tissue to actually use the belly button for something like that. Well everything is going good, And I'm back to normal. The lower incision is still a little sensitive, but all in all everything is great. I can pick up my children now, well Kaiyenna. Keydran is such a momma's boy that I had to snuggle him, otherwise he wouldn't go to bed at night. shhh don't tell. That was probably the hardest part of the whole thing, not being able to hold Kaiyenna. If I wouldn't have cheated, Keydran too. I was just supposed to take it easy the whole time, Dr. orders. The healing seems to be okay, so no harm done right? Anyways...thanks again everybody.posted by Kimbie @ 12:26 PM 3 people said...

Hollywood Kaiyenna
For Mother's Day Joey got me hair extentions...but don't be fooled, these are not just your typical hair extentions. They just clip in your hair! How wonderful. If I want long hair one day and short hair the next, well it's easy. I love them. Well, I clipped them in Kaiyenna's hair to make her have long hair and it's the funniest thing ever.

My Kaiyenna!
Last night for dinner we had my favorite...Mac & Cheese with hamburger and tomatoes. It's delicious. Well Joey fed Kaiyenna while I fed Keydran rice. After Joey got done feeding Kaiyenna, she didn't believe it was already gone. Even though her bowl is a see through plastic. So Joey gave her her bowl and she carefully inspected it. But to mine and Joey's surprise, there must have been more in there. Because Kaiyenna started eating more and going mmmm. Yeah...she was pretend eating. It was funny. Then today, I put Kaiyenna down for her nap. After a few minutes, I could hear her talking so I went in there to put her back down, and it's a good thing too. She had taken off her pants and also her diaper, and she was sitting on her bed and laughing when I walked in to see her half naked. It's a good thing that she didn't poop, or that there was nothing in her diaper. Good thing I changed her diaper right before she went down. All though that doesn't really mean anything.

Getting better
Some of you know that we were up at Primary Childrens Hospital for the weekend. What an experience. We started out at the insta-care first, with poor little Kaiyenna sooooo dehydrated that she looked like she was dying. Not something you want to see everyday. Or ever. The tech tried 3 times to get the IV in, but the veins in a child are really small, plus when you're dehydrated they shrink. Making them even smaller. Well after that 3 times, they sent us up to Primary Childrens. After getting there they had two more techs try and get the IV in, with no success and 5 pokes later...they say:

Silly Girl
Today I was giving Kaiyenna a bath. I had taken her out to dry her off and put lotion on her when she sunddenly began farting over and over again. I couldn't help but laugh. I hurried as fast as I could to put her diaper on her, as I feared she would unleash the wrath of baby poop. As soon as I put her diaper on, she attempted to push out another fart. When she flexed her stomach for the attempt, all that released was a grunt of epoch proportions. I had also put her bedding into wash this afternoon. As I put her favorite soft blanket into the dryer, she stuck her head in the dryer and laid her head on the blanket. Anyone who knows Kaiyenna knows that when something soft is near, she will either lay her head on it or give it a kiss.
